This page has information on certified rides I have participated in.
First off, I am a member of the Iron Butt Association. The IBA is dedicated to safe long distance motorcycle riding. They like to push a thousand miles a day as a good ride. Hey, I only get so much leave time a year, that is a way to maximize my mileage while minimizing the amount of leave time used. I now have my fifth certification from the IBA. The IBA is also the major proponent of the Iron Butt Rally. 11,000 miles in 11 days. That would be something to try for. Maybe later when I am better at it.
1000 - One
Day in the Saddle: A SaddleSore 1000 Trip
IBA BunBurner 1500 - On September 3 and 4th, 2004 I rode my BMW R1100R about 1,715 miles in less than 36 hours and obtained the IBA certification of Bun Burner 1500. I received the certificate on December 10th, 2004.
IBA CC50 - SaddleSore 3000 - On April 4th through 6th I rode some 3,124 miles. This included going from coast to coast. Basically I went from Jacksonville, FL to San Diego, CA and then up through Las Vegas, NV to Page, AZ. I received the 50CC certificate on June 8th, 2005 and the SS3000 certificate on June 11th, 2005.
The IBA's National Park Tour Master Traveler Award. To qualify you have to get a National Parks Passport and within one year get it stamped with at least 50 different National Parks passport cancellation stamps in 25 different states (check out the IBA site for more details). And, of course, you have to ride a motorcycle to the parks to qualify. My totals were 76 stamps from 25 states starting from 08/25/2004. Click here for a list of the parks I visited and some of my thoughts on about doing the ride. I received the certificate on October 17, 2005.
BMW Riders of Mississippi's 82N1YR Challenge - Between the first of April of 2005 and 2006, the BMW Riders of Mississippi had a ride going where you ride in all 82 Counties in MS and get a pin. Details on the ride are at BMWRM website at: http://www.bmwridersofmississippi.org/MS82.htm Here is a graphic with the counties I traveled through and the date I completed them. Here are my log book entries. I received my certificate on April 1st, some irony there, huh?
